Triumph Italia - Nr.126

Chassis No.1000, UK 1953

Vignale Nr.126

Secondi Automobili, a Peugeot dealer in Milan, specialized in buying up excess stock from defunct dealers in the 1960s and both Italia Nr.126 and Nr.215 were hidden away in their stock. In 1981, Secondi's decided that it was time to offer the two Italia's for sale.

Jörg von Appen purchased Nr.126 in 1987 from a dealer in Italy after long negotiations. The car had only been occasionally brought out of stock into the showroom over the years and had just accumulated 27km from new.

This car represents a unique opportunity to see an Italia as it was when it left the factory. It has the aluminium tail-light housings with the Altissimo lenses. The seat pattern, both front and rear, is the early style. The two-part door panels, with a lower strip in addition to the main section is carried through for most of the production run.

As with Nr.215, this car is a perfect reference point for Italia restorers and it's extremely fortunate that two such cars have survived from the small production run.
