2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE.

Apologies for absence were received from Gail and Brian Howatson.

3. GROUP LEADER/DEPUTY GROUP LEADER.

Selwyn Edwards and Graham Edwards were elected as Group Leader and Deputy Group leader respectively for the next twelve months.

Selwyn thanked members for their support in electing him and also thanked Alan for his efforts over the last two years. It was agreed that Alan would continue to submit the monthly report to the Register office for TR Action magazine.

4. RETIRING GROUP LEADER’S REPORT.

The retiring Group Leader Alan Rushton reviewed the past year as follows:

He opened by saying how much he had enjoyed being Group Leader for the last two years. The group had developed over that time and was going from strength to strength. This was as a result of the support received from Register head office, our North West Coordinator Mike Sloan and most importantly the members of the North Wales group. He also thanked everyone who had helped with organising events during the year.

On Good Friday six of our cars joined up with the annual Red Rose Easter Bunny Run which this year ventured into the Principality and we met both them and some members of the Wirral Triumph Appreciation Society at the canal basin at Trevor not far from Llangollen. At one point there were about 26 Triumphs in the car park on a rather wet morning.

June and Mike from the Red Rose Group had pre planned a lunch stop at The Hand Inn at Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog at which we all eventually arrived for a well deserved meal.

Our April meeting dawned with glorious sunshine but a thick covering of snow. Even so we had three TR’s at the meeting following which some of us visited another pub at Henllan near Denbigh as part of our ongoing search for an alternative venue. We seem however to have decided to stay put at the Kings Head for the time being.

Also in April we managed to get six cars out for the FBHVC Drive it Day on

20 April. The weather was looking ominous as we met at the Kings Head but we set off anyway on a short run over the hills to Llyn Brenig where we stopped at the visitor centre for a walk by the lake followed by afternoon tea and coffee and a pleasant chat.

On 1 June we had a barbeque at Patrick’s and Caroline’s house when once again they did us proud and we had a good turn out with a total of  one TR4 sevenTR6s and a GT6 parked along Patrick’s drive..

We also had our Wales weekend (27 to 29 June) which was once again based at Howey near Llandrindod Wells. Ten couples (7 TRs) enjoyed an exhilarating run over the Cambrian mountains with the first stop at the Elan Valley visitors’ centre for mid morning coffee. From there we went onto Tregaron for a welcome lunch break at a very pleasant café in the centre of the village. The return run back across the Cambrians was again superb on what turned out to be an excellent dry day. Sunday morning unfortunately dawned rather showery but undaunted we plotted a challenging route back north towards Bala where we eventually stopped for a late lunch. A good weekend was had by all.

The following Sunday 6 July, six TR6’s a GT6 and an MX5 left the King’s Head on a run organized by Graham. This took us over the Denbigh moors towards Snowdonia where we stopped for afternoon tea at Tan y Bwlch Ffestiniog railway station. Ironically on a weekend when some parts of the country were experiencing torrential rain we were able to drive tops down all afternoon passing through Capel Curig en route which is statistically one of the wettest places in the UK.

For our August meeting we went on a run to the Wirral. Unfortunately the rain intervened and whilst we had 7 TR’s and an X Type Jaguar out on the day, we decided after visiting the craft centre at Brimstage to go the beach at Caldy. After a walk across the sands to West Kirby during which the sun came out we eventually returned in convoy back across the border.

The Bank Holiday weekend saw 6 of our Tr’s plus a GT6 attend the Gold Cup Meeting at Oulton Park which this year celebrated 50 years of Lola competing in motorsport.

On the last Sunday in August Peter and Polly kindly hosted a barbeque at their cottage just outside Llanasa when unfortunately once again the rains descended but we had a very cosy Sunday afternoon in front of their inglenook fire eating some excellent food.

Our September meeting saw a grey but mainly dry Sunday so we decided to go on a short run over the Clwydian hills to the visitors’centre and ‘caffi’ at Loggerheads just outside Mold for afternoon refreshments.

The weekend of the 13/14 September saw some of our group at Loton Park near Shrewsbury for an excellent hillclimb event.

Our October meeting was quite well attended on a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon with a total of seven TR’s in and around the car park at the Kings Head.

We had a quiet meeting at the Kings Head at the beginning of November with just a few members but nonetheless a very pleasant chat and drink. I think some of our members had opted for some winter sunshine instead!

December’s meeting saw a dozen members turn out on a very bright but cold frosty day. Geraint who has now joined the Register also came along to show us photos of his recently purchased TR3.

The following week would be our belated Christmas Dinner at the Seiont Manor Hotel and our thanks were extended to Gail for her efforts in organising this.

Finally I am sure you will give Selwyn all your support during the coming year.

5. GROUP TREASURER.

Patrick having done an excellent job over the last twelve months was re elected as Group Treasurer.

It was also agreed to re-appoint Selwyn, Patrick and Alan as authorised signatories for the group’s bank account with Barclays Denbigh branch.

6. GROUP TREASURER’S REPORT.

Patrick circulated the Treasurer’s Report for the year ending 31 January 2009 together with the income and expenditure account for the same period. A copy of this report is attached to these minutes. The report explained the new bank account arrangements, set up with Barclays Denbigh branch.

The key figures contained in the income and expenditure account were as follows:

            Opening balance 1/2/2008                    £144.94

            Income                                                 £146.14

            Expenditure                                          £112.93

            Closing balance 31/12009                    £178.15

The accounts as presented for the year ending 31/1/2009 were approved by the meeting.

It was also agreed to close the existing Lloyds TSB account and transfer the balance to the Barclays account Denbigh branch.

Patrick also confirmed with Mike Sloan, the expenditure and grant arrangements available through the TR Register.

The Group Leader thanked Patrick for his report and his sterling work over the last twelve months.

7. EVENTS PROGRAMME.

Members then considered any additional events to those already included in the events programme for 2009.  Some suggestions already included were:

(i) Good Friday run – Graham was willing to organise this on Friday 10 April 2009.

(ii) Wales weekend 26/28 June Betws y Coed Park Hill Hotel – Details of this hotel were circulated and those interested in staying over the weekend were asked to contact the hotel direct as soon as possible to reserve accommodation.

(iii) Other possible events were mentioned and could be added to the programme as appropriate.

8. GROUP BANNER AND REGALIA.

Ken stated that he would continue to chase the screen stickers with his supplier. He also reminded members of other regalia available such as polo shirts sweaters etc.

Mike offered to investigate in house production of screen stickers and contact Geoff.
